Police are looking for a Maserati and its driver after gunshots erupted in a road rage incident last week in Washington, DC, police said.
Security camera footage captured the incident in northeast DC last Wednesday. The video shows a vehicle that apparently “cut the Maserati” while trying to merge lanes near an intersection, according to the DC Metropolitan Police Department.
Moments later, the man behind the wheel of the Maserati got out of his vehicle and approached the window of the nearby car. He then pulled several times on the window on the driver’s side of the other vehicle.
In an effort to flee the attack, the victim moved away from the shooter. The suspect then turned and pointed his gun at oncoming traffic, eventually fleeing the scene of the Maserati police were now looking for.
Following the assault, police responded to the vehicle that had been under fire parked a few blocks away, finding a woman with gunshot wounds. The victim was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment for minor injuries that were not life threatening.
The police incident report claims that there were two other passengers in the victim’s car at the time of the incident. It is not known if either of these two passengers was also injured in the assault. There is no further information on the current condition of the driver who was shot.
Since the incident, police have not been able to locate the suspect and the vehicle in question. Based on the surveillance footage, the vehicle is described as a gray two-door Maserati.
A reward of $ 10,000 is available to the public for anyone who can provide further information on the identity of the suspect. DC residents are also encouraged to contact the Metro PD through their advice line or direct phone number for any further information.
