President Dr Arif Alvi arrived in the United Arab Emirates on Saturday for a two-day visit, during which he will meet with dignitaries from the United Arab Emirates and also inaugurate the Pakistan pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai.

The President was received by the Minister of Justice of the United Arab Emirates, Abdullah bin Sultan bin Awad Al Nuaimi, at Al Maktoum International Airport. Begum Samina Alvi also accompanied the President.

Trade Minister Abdul Razak Dawood and Foreign Minister Sohail Mahmood were among the President’s entourage.

A red carpet was rolled out for President Alvi and a contingent of UAE forces gave him a static salute.

During his stay, the President will meet with leading businessmen, investors, entrepreneurs, senior representatives of information technology companies and media professionals.

He is also expected to interact with members of the Pakistani community in the UAE.

The president will be the main guest at an event on Roshan Digital Account and Roshan Apna Ghar, initiatives launched by the government to facilitate expatriates.

President Alvi’s visit coincides with 50 years of establishment of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates.

Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates enjoy close brotherly relations, deeply rooted in a common faith, shared history and cultural affinities.

The United Arab Emirates is Pakistan’s largest trading partner in the Middle East and a major source of investment.
