Pop R&B singer-songwriter Jeremih will be performing a free concert on the HUB Lawn next weekend for Penn State’s fall semester.

In collaboration with Movin ‘On, the Student Programming Association (SPA) at Penn State will be hosting a full range of activities at a new event called “LightsUP”. The event kicks off at 5 p.m. on Saturday, August 28 on the HUB lawn, while Jeremih’s concert kicks off at 9 p.m.

LightsUP will feature performances by the Caliente dance team and some student musicians. Attendees can also visit a photo booth or receive airbrush tattoos.

The full event is completely free for students. According to SPA, LightsUP aims to celebrate back to school and bring students together.

LightsUP will ultimately follow Penn State’s current COVID-19 guidelines, which are subject to change. SPA said more details on security protocols will be released “in the very near future.”

Jeremih surged into the mainstream in 2009 with his top 10, “Birthday Sex”. Since then he has released three studio albums, worked with artists like Future and J Cole, and won a Grammy nomination.

Over the past few years, SPA and Movin ‘On have collaborated to bring T-Pain and Ty Dolla $ ign to HUB Lawn to celebrate the start of the 2018 and 2019 fall semesters, respectively.
