MINNESOTA (WCCO) – Aitkin County MPs and the McGregor Fire Department found the body of Nathen Waldo in Big Sandy Lake on Saturday.
Aitkin County Dispatch said it received a 911 call reporting a man overboard on Big Sandy Lake near Hillcrest Resort in Aitkin County. MPs located a group of men on a pontoon boat in Misty Harbor. The group told MPs that their friend, Nathen Norman Waldo, 34, of North Branch, fell from the front of the pontoon as the boat moved forward.

According to police, witnesses said Waldo was swept under the boat and believed he was hit by the engine. Help was deployed throughout the day but the body was not found.

St. Louis County Search and Rescue joined the first responder group on Saturday and Waldo’s body was found that afternoon in about 30 feet of water.
The boat’s operator, Joshua Mark Harvey, 34, of Maplewood, has been arrested on charges of boating while intoxicated. The Aitkin County District Attorney’s Office said it was re-examining the case on the probable cause of charging him with criminal operation to the vehicle.

Harvey is in Aitkin County Jail awaiting a court appearance.
