bat girl Star Leslie Grace reacted to the first time she tried on the costume. Many people were hoping the DC Comics movie would aim for a comic book-accurate costume this time around. Imagine their excitement when Grace posted an image of her superhero look that could have made the cover of an issue of bat girl. The actress spoke to PopCulture about the joy of seeing this dream come true. Reality completely set in when she put on that cape and cowl. It’s no easy task to headline these giant superhero projects, but Grace has prepared for this moment. And, with her new uniform in tow, she’s ready to give fans a taste of a different version of Gotham City. Check out what she had to say below.
“Ever since I found out I was going to take on this project, I was so excited and just blown away, really. It was really kind of crazy to figure that out,” Grace began. “But once I got into this final version of the costume with the cowl, and all the makeup and the hair and everything, I was like, ‘Wow, I really am Batgirl. Like, what’s going on right now? Am I in another dimension? What is going on ? So that was amazing. It was a great experience.”
“We’re all excited now and I can’t wait for everyone to see this movie. I can’t wait to see myself. Once our directors have edited and everything [I am excited to see that]. But I mean it’s packed with action, drama, love. There’s a real moral to the story,” she continued. “There’s a real heart to this story. We go through a lot of different fundamental things that happen to all of us in the plot of the film, through all of the characters. And so I’m really excited for everyone to see it.”
In the same conversation, Grace talked about working with all the legends of genre cinema on this film. “Oh my. Such a blessing, such a school. I really have to soak up the knowledge of our veterans like Brendan Fraser, who plays our villainous Firefly,” Grace said. “Never in a million years would I have thought that on my second film, I would be on set with Brendan and JK Simmons playing my character’s father, and Michael Keaton playing the OG Tim Burton Batman.”
“It’s the stuff you can only dream of. So whenever I was on set with one of them, I always soaked it up,” the actress added. “Whenever I’m on a shoot, even if I’m the only person in front of the camera, I try to immerse myself in the crew. Any experience [is helpful]. And our team is amazing too. But these guys, they were so generous with their knowledge. And there were so many fun conversations with Brendan and with JK. It was amazing.”
